The Pomegranate Psalm
Psalm 23 - Part 7
A good reminder of the biblical mandate to eat together. Much good can come from a hearty meal with the right attitude.
Are Maggots Hurting? The Anointing Heals
Psalm 23 - Part 6
Has the lord of the flies, beelzebub, laid maggots in your life? The Anointing of God can heal you and overflow into the lives of those around you.
This week Ps Rob focuses on the second part of Psalm 23 verse 5, "…You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over."
This week’s sermon is one of those special times when the Lord’s presence was unusually strong. The end of the recording captures a time of ministry when the Lord’s presence, peace and comfort were strongly experienced. It will minister to you and heal those maggots in your life as you listen and interact with the Lord.
The Table of the Lord
Psalm 23 - Part 5
This week Ps Rob focused on the first part of Psalm 23 verse 5, "You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies…."
Israel, God’s Start-up Nation
plus Questions & Answers
Guest speaker Ps Stefan Silver from Haifa, Israel spoke to us in a combined service with Riverstones Church, Upper Hutt.
He shared about how God has blessed Israel with success in the business start-up world. He also used the stages of a business start-up to illustrate Israel’s spiritual journey from it’s humble beginnings with Abraham, through the two exiles, to it’s rebirth as a nation, experiencing economic, military, social and political miracles.
Ps Silver went on to update us with some statistics showing that there is a rapid increase in the number of Israeli Jews believing in Yeshua as their Messiah. But also that there is still much work to be done.
So, Ps Stefan then outlined how we can support God's start-up nation to rediscover their Messiah Yeshua using the acronym PR.A.S.IN (Press in):
Pray! Our Most powerful weapon
Advocate! Make your voice heard and presence known. For example, NZ's attitude towards Israel needs to change.
Support! Get behind the 'Boots on the Ground' such as supporting Messianic evangelistic organisations.
Influence! Challenge your family, colleagues, pastors, etc
The recording ends with a Q & A session on the current situation in Israel. The questions cannot be heard, but Ps Stefan’s answers are still very insightful.
The Lord Will Be With Us Through Our Valleys
Psalm 23 - Part 4
In Part 4 of this series on Psalm 23, Ps Rob talks about the valley (verse 4). Valleys will occur in our lives. But we are not alone. Life is not hopeless because we have the Lord who will be with us through our valleys and help us out the end of the valley.
If you are struggling in a valley, don’t do it alone. Talk with Ps Rob or Ps Kaye. Click here to see our Contact page for the Risk Church phone number.
NOTE: A technical fault cut off the end of the sermon, but there’s still plenty of encouraging words to listen to!
Lie Down in Green Pastures
Psalm 23 - Part 3
Prophetic Words Are Our Lifeblood
Plus “Songs That Make You Think”
Ps Rob talks from Paul’s letters to Timothy. He shares how prophetic words are our lifeblood - as believers they’re an indispensable factor in helping us fight the battle well (1 Tim 1:18). Plus, Rob treats us to a pre-sermon on ‘Songs That Make You Think’.
Hi there, if you listening from overseas, please take a moment to send us a quick message to introduce yourself. We’re very keen to know whose listening in and would love to hear from you. You can send a message using our contact form or send us an email info@riskchurch.org.nz
Jesus Is Our Good Shepherd
Psalm 23 - Part 2
Our Shepherd is Everything We Need
Psalm 23 - Part 1
No situation that we face is too difficult for our God.
In this sermon Ps Rob springboards off of Psalm 23:1 to show us that all of His nature (described by all the names of God that we find throughout the Scriptures) and all that He does are encapsulated in this one overarching aspect of His character - “The Lord is our Shepherd”.
When we call upon His name, we're calling upon all of God's provision and all of His nature.
“Who He is, is [wrapped] up in His Son Jesus. Who He is and what He is, is all yours.”
Rob Clayton
Towards the end of the message, Rob reads out a very cool list of God’s names.
Two brief testimonies are appended to the end of the recording for your encouragement:
Credit card bill anonymously paid “Nobody knows where it came from.”
Opportunity to witness to man who asked “Is the resurrection real?”
Too often we tend to see what we don't have and miss the things we do! Time for a fresh perspective!
Psalm 19 - Part 2
Uncovering Secrets in the Psalms
Ps Rob continues his study of Psalm 19. Previously, we explored verses 1 to 6 and how the heavens declare the glory of God. This week he unearths secrets in verses 7 to 14. These verses describe the power of God’s Word to transform us. It converts our soul, gives wisdom, brings joy, gives direction, produces reverence, brings judgement, warns and rewards.
In this message Ps Rob works through Psalm 2, verse by verse.
Ps Rob explains how Psalm 2 is a prophecy that accurately describes the attitude of our current rulers and society to rise up against God and Christ (vv. 2-3) in order to do their own thing - behaviour that is proving to be increasingly bizarre and insane.
Psalm 2 issues a strong warning to these people to turn back to God, and embrace and submit to Jesus (v. 12 “Kiss the Son”) before God’s wrath comes upon them.
Finally, God’s promise to those who do embrace Jesus as God is this - “Blessed are all who take refuge in Him” v.12.
If you know God then call people to embrace Christ and avoid His wrath.
If you are doing your own thing, then call on the name of Christ to be saved, avoid His wrath and become one of His blessed. For more information on how to do this download this eGuide.

The Heavens Declare the Glory of God
In this message, Ps Rob walks us through a beautiful reflection on Psalm 19, enabling us to join our voices and hearts with all Creation in declaring the wonder and glory of our God and Creator.
Ps Rob plays two YouTube vidoes, one to begin, and one to end. For copyright reasons, we can't include these in the recording. But here are the links so that you can watch them:
It’s very easy to get caught up in performance-based Christianity - trying to earn God’s love, or going through the motions of the Christian life. However, this is not the kind of relationship that Father God desires to have with us.
In this Father’s day message Andrew Ward shares four keys for moving from a performance-based relationship with our Heavenly Father to a love-based relationship in which we freely express our affection for Him:
Be continually filled with the power of the Holy Spirit
Get to know what God says in His Word Himself and about you
Tell your soul to be quiet!
Regularly spend time fellowshipping with the Father
He also touches on wrong father images and how to transform the Christian disciplines of prayer, fasting, Bible reading, tithing, attending services, etc from chores into expressions of our love for Him.
Our thought-life determines what we cultivate in our lives. Currently, ‘mind-emptying’ mindfulness is all the rage. In today’s message Amanda Minot shares how Christian mindfulness isn’t about emptying the mind. It’s about self-control and Godly thinking. It’s about intentional thinking. It’s being aware of what’s going on in our head and taking control over it. Amanda shares solid advice on how to walk in the Spirit in order to cultivate a healthy, Christian mindset.
In this short and powerful evening message Ps Rob uses Ephesians Chapter 1 to demonstrate how to use praise as a weapon to overcome the enemy.
Try your best to get along to these PM services. They are very different to the morning services. We are experiencing some very special times of intimate worship with the Lord in them.
In this particular evening service, the worship time flowed freely and we strongly sensed the Holy Spirit’s presence. It was beautiful.
Ps Rob tells us how to delight in the Lord and have the Lord give us the desires of our heart (Ps 37:4). Rob illustrates his message with the powerful testimony of him and Kaye being shown by God in 1984-85 that the Lord wanted to take them to Israel to live for 2 years.
Psalms 37:4
4 Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
(NIV)
Tune into the final 5 minutes of the message and grab some bread and juice to spend some time worshipping the Lord in communion.
